In Sweden we have a long history of coins. The first swedish coins where strucked 995 a.d. For over 1000 years we have strucked and use swedish coins in Sweden. Before this date 995 we used Roman, German, English and Bysantic coins, which the Vikings brings to Sweden during there sails around the world.
In Sweden we also have a long history of coin collecting. The oldest collections are from the beginning of the 17th century. On my coinlist You mainly find coins from the period 1873-2002. 1873 is a maindate for swedish coins because we start using krona and ore, which we still do. One swedish krona (crown) is diveded in 100 ore. Today we use coins with the value 10 krona, 5 krona, 1 krona and 50 ore.
My coin list include some of the old coins we strucked in Sweden during the 17th-, 18th- and the 19th century, the Swedish Copper-Era. Sweden was the biggest producer of copper in the world in these centuries. And copper was a very important metal for swedish coins. We start strucked coppercoin 1624 and the biggest one we make in Sweden had a weight of near 20 kilos !!! (40 pounds) the year was 1644.
At my website Ingemars Myntsida (Ingemars Website) You will find a lot of information about swedish coins, coin collecting and grading of swedish coins. If You don´t understand swedish and are interested in the information, send me an e-mail in english and I will try to answer You.
